If there was a manuscript or a layout for how to become #1 in the poetry writing game. I would surely have read it by now. But there isn't. So, here I write, and I pray for my work to fall into the hands of someone who recognizes my talent and strength. I know my gift and my way with words are beyond amazing and I am ready for my time. If it means hiring a publicist to put me out there, if it means self-publishing my first book so I have a product to deliver and prove. I guess I can look at my self published book like people do a mixtape. Gotta PUT OUT before you get PUT ON. Well, get ready. Because I'm talented and I belong at the top. I told my mother this years ago, it's something special about me, and she knows and believes. So, I checked my watch, and I see it's
MY TIME!!!
I've waited long enough,
I've written to the max,
I have poems saved for days,
Trust me that's a fact,
I write like Nikki, Giovanni is my fave,
Gotta little Maya in me, Angelou paved the way,
Jill touches my heart, that Scott is one hell of a writer,
And Tiffany that's Me, Crumby always been a fighter.
The top isn't given, gotta fight to get there,
I paused for a second and now my vision is clear,
Here I stand, a champion in life,
Knife in my hand, cutting out my slice.

Dream it. Live it.
First I would like to congratulate everyone who has decided to go after their dream. Such a great feeling comes when you are doing what you want to do in life. I heard a dope song and the hook was "hold on to your dreams". I thought why would I have to hold on to a dream? Because, there are people in the world who don't want to see other people's dreams come true. That's a sad fact. But I feel there are strong enough people to dream, chase and live their dreams without letting how other people feel stop them. Sometimes it's easier said than done. But you have to remain positive in the filthiest of situations. No matter what stage in life you are in or what dream you are living, do the world a favor and fulfill your dreams to the maximum. Know that you can't make everyone happy and that's a part of life. But as long as God is pleased. You are on the right track. You can do all things through Christ (Phil. 4:13) don't ever forget it.
Keep chasing your dreams because the day will come when you live them.
Be blessed,

Carry On (As You Were)
When I can't find the words to say verbally, I always have plenty to say on paper (or with my fingers). Writing is my therapy, the finished product excites me but the process restores me. I love to write. I have BIG dreams of being a National Best Seller one day! I believe that dream shall come alive. I have a few passions in life, along with writing is educating. I love it. Unfortunately, a previous experience left a bad taste in my mouth, but my degree is a constant reminder of why I wanted to be an educator. It's the tears, sleepless nights, long 40 plus hour work weeks and 15 credits plus a 2nd job, it's the look on my mother and grandmother's faces when my named was called at graduation. It's the feeling I get when I feel like I've lost, and that others are so far ahead of me, and I want to be where they are. Then I am reminded. This is MY RACE. My life, and I live it to please GOD! To demonstrate to others who Christ is. I am not set out to run this race against anyone else. But to carry out the will of God for my life. It is days such as today, that remind me why I am doing what I am doing. I thank God for my words. With these words I hope to one day leave an imprint in the earth that says, "Jesus lives, loves and saves, if He did it for me, He can do it for You".

Starbucks And Sleeping Pills
The life of a college student, undergraduate or graduate level is often underrated. From one major to the next there is a struggle involved. No matter your class standing; studying comes with a challenge. Now, I don't speak for the masses, just myself and some friends who I know have endured and overcome the challenges presented in college. I remember during my student teaching, almost every day, I drank Starbucks in the morning. Prior to student teaching, I drank energy drinks to stay awake when I worked overnight and when I'd pull 'ALL-NIGHTERS" to study for exams. Sleep was unheard of during those days. But lack of sleep lead to anxiety, irritability, strained relationships and emotional roller coasters. I couldn't sleep, I was studying, working, planning, typing, writing, researching, trying to become a college graduate. So, I was introduced to sleeping pills or sleep aid. And I tell you, it was a gift and a curse. Finally, my neurotransmitters could slow down and I could relax to get sleep. In the morning, upon opening my eyes, I craved Starbucks, to give me energy. And soon my life became one with the other. Starbucks and Sleeping Pills.
And THEN I GRADUATED!!! Amen to THAT!
****THIS BLOG was created for entertainment. A good friend of mine and I had a conversation laughing about our experiences with Starbucks and sleeping pills. I do not endorse and or recommend EITHER for ANYTHING you deal with in college. OKAY**** Say a prayer for strength. I do endorse Phillipians 4:13 though, cause that got me through EVERY DAY in college with out without Starbucks and sleep aid.

Leaders Of Today
Where are the leaders of today?
Somewhere working two jobs and barely getting any sleep?
Working hard, studying in college only not to get a job when they graduate?
Where are our leaders of today?
Behind bars for a simple mistake, freedom taken for trying to make a way?
What have we done with the leaders of today?
Killed them with our dirty looks or our sharp words?
Why have we not lifted up the community in prayer? Or lead the blind to be able to see?
Why have we given up hope, on those who barely have any?
What happened to us being the light? And letting it shine in this world?
Let’s pray for those who lead us today and reach to lose who’ll lead us tomorrow!
We are the leaders of today!

Just What I'm Feeling At The Time
I haven't blogged in a while. Honestly, I don't know what to blog about. I been saving my poetry for the book and all of my other thoughts are getting dumped in my circle's texts or iMessages. Speaking of technology. Here we have the world at our fingertips, do you think this has affected the meaning of communication. Since when does a text message suffice for a true conversation? How can you get to understand someone and build a friendship through typing and not conversing? I think texting is great, I use it often, but it doesn't replace having a conversation. I'm old school, I love talking on the phone to my friends and going to visit them. Technology is not a base to build any relationship, platonic or romantic. However, good ol' interpersonal communication never fails. Have a great day and call someone. A simple phone call could truly enhance someone's day.

Reflecting (2011)
It is the end of the year 2011. My how time flies. They say as you get older time moves faster, and I totally agree. What are you doing with your time? Shopping? Reading? Working out? Working? Studying? Praising? Praying? Worrying? Complaining? Evaluating? Reflecting?
A wise person once told me, the most important mark on a tombstone is not the date of birth or date of death, but the DASH. The dash represents your time spent, which is the most important part of your life. As humans, living in a fast pace world, as students trying to become a more productive citizen, as teachers striving to make the world a better place, as parents, wives, husbands, sons, or daughters we are faced with a million demands on our time. Time management and prioritizing are essential to living a productive and balanced life. It may not be the easiest to attain, but they help your life operate smoothly. However, we often forget to reflect.
During these next 10 days, many people will be reflecting on the past year of their lives. They will be looking for ways to improve, elevate, prosper and attain the life they desire. But a "once-a-year" reflection is not enough. Think of how much you could grow if you regularly took time to reflect on your life. You would be able to pay close attention to mistakes and mishaps and plan better for the future.
My advice: take time to look back, so you can keep moving forward. If you don't reflect, time may be moving but you may be standing still.
