Reflecting (2011)

It is the end of the year 2011. My how time flies. They say as you get older time moves faster, and I totally agree. What are you doing with your time? Shopping? Reading? Working out? Working? Studying? Praising? Praying? Worrying? Complaining? Evaluating? Reflecting?

A wise person once told me, the most important mark on a tombstone is not the date of birth or date of death, but the DASH. The dash represents your time spent, which is the most important part of your life. As humans, living in a fast pace world, as students trying to become a more productive citizen, as teachers striving to make the world a better place, as parents, wives, husbands, sons, or daughters we are faced with a million demands on our time. Time management and prioritizing are essential to living a productive and balanced life. It may not be the easiest to attain, but they help your life operate smoothly. However, we often forget to reflect.

During these next 10 days, many people will be reflecting on the past year of their lives. They will be looking for ways to improve, elevate, prosper and attain the life they desire. But a "once-a-year" reflection is not enough. Think of how much you could grow if you regularly took time to reflect on your life. You would be able to pay close attention to mistakes and mishaps and plan better for the future.

My advice: take time to look back, so you can keep moving forward. If you don't reflect, time may be moving but you may be standing still.

Hindsight is always 20/20- (that's what THEY say)

Starting Over

Have you ever felt like you needed a fresh start? Maybe on a job? In a relationship? With your own body? Have you ever felt like things were stagnant and you needed something new? That desire for something new is normal for us human beings. We are used to (or at least we deal with) change all the time. But what happens when you can't lay your finger on what you want, you just know that you want more than you have been given? How do you deal with desiring something new without going out and purchasing it? Do you pray? Soul Search? Meditate? Literally drop all the old and start new? How do you deal wit starting over?

These are questions I ask myself, and the answer I received was this:
Your destiny is predetermined, your life is mapped out. I need you to believe that you can so that it will all work out. You can start over, you can have new, but first I need you to stop planning and start doing. It will work.

From that I gathered that I can dream, daydream and wonder about this "newness" that I desire, but until I put some action to it, the newness will not be attained.

So GET UP and GO GET whatever YOU DESIRE. It's waiting on you.
